Frosty the travel dog

Frosty, the 14-year-old male dog, started his journey nine years ago when his owners, Sandra and Bernard Larson, decided to move from their home country Indonesia to Melbourne.

“Frosty is a mixed breed between Shih Tzu and Pomeranian,” Sandra told CBD News.

Before travelling, the couple had to face the challenge of finding a way to bring this special member of their family to Australia.

In spite of the tough biosecurity policies Australia has in place with Indonesia, Sandra and Bernard managed to find a way to bring Frosty into the country.

“At that time, the regulations from Australian biosecurity wouldn’t allow us to bring pets straight away from Indonesia,” Sandra said.

As Sandra explained, the solution was to take Frosty first to Malaysia, where, at the time, approval could be more easily sought to bring dogs and cats to Australia. Now nine years later, happy in his new home, Frosty travels across the country alongside his owners.

“We like to take him on holidays with us,” Sandra said.
