Handmade with heart: QVM traders share the love this Mother’s Day
As Mother’s Day approaches, Queen Victoria Market (QVM) is bursting with love, laughter and a whole lot of handcrafted magic.
For three passionate traders – Suzanne from Pebble and Poppet, Saemyi of Mintstone Candles, and Gen from The Hemp Superstore – it’s one of the most meaningful times of year, not just for their customers, but for themselves as creators and members of the QVM community.
At Pebble and Poppet, Suzanne is all about joy-filled fashion for the whole family, and this Mother’s Day is no exception.
“Mother’s Day is one of our absolute favourites here at Pebble and Poppet! We just love seeing all the sweet mums and their little loves pop into the store, giggling and twirling as they pick out matching outfits for such a beautiful day,” she said.
To mark the occasion, Pebble and Poppet is offering up to 15 per cent off in-store.
“It’s a celebration full of cuddles, smiles, and oh-so-cute moments – and we feel so lucky to be a part of it.”
Suzanne will be spending the morning of Mother’s Day at the market before heading off for a family lunch.
“A day full of love, laughter, and family. Just the way it should be.”
Over at Mintstone Candles, Saemyi is hand-pouring love into every gift box.
“We will be having beautiful candle and diffuser gift sets called ‘Whole Lotta Love’ gift boxes for Mother’s Day,” she said.
“We will also have two special scents designed to transport your mum on a journey to a serene and happy place.”
For Saemyi, who’ll be sending love to her mum in Korea via video call, QVM offers the perfect place to find something meaningful.
“There isn’t anything you can’t find at QVM – from fresh produce and living essentials, to unique handmade crafts and iconic souvenirs.”
After seven years of trading, Saemyi still finds joy in the daily energy of the market.
“We always, always – without exception – meet lovely customers who are curious, supportive, inspiring and encouraging,” she said.
We’ve formed a huge family here at QVM. We stand up for each other. We respect and love each other.
And at The Hemp Superstore, Gen Lane is preparing shelves full of locally crafted, eco-friendly wellness products designed with Mum in mind.
“We have a huge range of beautiful organic home fragrancing products that Mum will love – all handcrafted right here in Melbourne,” she said.
“If you are looking for a beautifully hand-crafted gift made with intention, make sure you choose QVM as your destination for Mum this year.”
Whether you’re browsing with Mum or picking out a present to post, QVM captures the true spirit of togetherness and thoughtful giving.
“The Queen Victoria Market has truly been my second home for the past 30 years,” Suzanne said.
“It’s where my passion lives.”
So, this Mother’s Day, wander the laneways, meet the makers, and find a gift that says thank you from the heart. •
