Mörk Chocolate: a sweet success at QVM
For more than a decade, Mörk Chocolate has been at the forefront of Melbourne’s specialty drinking chocolate scene.
Founded in 2012 by husband-and-wife duo Kiril and Josephine, Mörk Chocolate started as a passion project and has now grown into a beloved staple among chocolate enthusiasts.
Kiril, one of Mörk’s directors, describes the business as a true family operation.
“My wife and I, we run this company together, and it’s just us, so it’s a family business,” he said.
The brand’s first retail outlet in North Melbourne recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, while the QVM location has been serving customers for nearly two years.
Opening at QVM was a long-held dream for the couple, given their deep connection to the area.
“We’ve been going to the market ever since we moved to North Melbourne,” Kiril said.
“It’s been a long dream of ours to have a little store inside the Dairy Hall.”
The opportunity arose when a space became available, attracting more than 100 applicants. Mörk secured the spot through a rigorous selection process.
“We had to go into a room with all these execs from QVM and do a presentation of what the brand could offer for that space. The process was unbelievable.”
Mörk Chocolate’s menu at QVM reflects the same dedication to quality that made its original store a success.
One of their signature drinks is their campfire hot chocolate, which has become a social media favourite.

Customers can also choose from various chocolate strengths, from the sweeter Junior to the darkest option.
Beyond drinks, Mörk offers a range of retail products made in their North Melbourne chocolate foundry.
A standout is the Australian natives collection, featuring macadamias infused with local herbs and botanicals. The store also boasts a pastry selection, including Josephine’s Swedish cinnamon buns.
“She’s worked on the cinnamon bun that’s as good as it is in Sweden, if not better,” Kiril told CBD News.
With Easter approaching, Mörk is preparing a selection of seasonal treats, from chocolate bunnies to Easter eggs.
For Kiril, being part of the QVM community is one of the most rewarding aspects of the business.
“All the traders are family-owned businesses, just like us. It’s really nice to be part of that community,” he said.
“Being in a heritage building, in one of those iconic Melbourne locations – it really is a once-in-a-lifetime type of opportunity.” •
