Melbourne has welcomed the world’s largest Leica store, a four-storey space located on Little Collins St in the CBD.

The store, which took two years to develop, offers a unique experience for photography enthusiasts, combining retail with educational and artistic elements.

The ground floor serves as a retail space, offering a wide range of German brand Leica cameras, lenses, and sport optics, while the second floor features a gallery that is currently showing Colours of Antarctica, a photographic exhibition by Stuart Robertson.

The third level, named The Akademie, provides space for photography workshops and other educational programs. The top floor includes a rooftop area, offering a quiet space for visitors.

Managing Director of Leica Ryan Williams said, “the store aims to contribute to Melbourne’s cultural and economic landscape by offering more than a conventional retail experience,” adding that the store’s opening is timely, with the upcoming Town Hall Station expected to increase foot traffic in the area.

Leica is open seven days a week and complements other Leica outlets in Australia, including locations in Chadstone and Sydney’s Queen Victoria Building. The store is located at 267 Little Collins St. •
