More than 80 employees at a CBD-based entrepreneurial advisory firm are preparing to hit the pavement in a charity run to honour the memory of their late colleague.

BlueRock will participate in Run Melbourne when the event returns on July 24, which will see runners and walkers band together to help raise funds and awareness for a charity of their choice.

Employees at BlueRock will run to commemorate their late colleague Dario Bertini who was a big supporter of the Heart Foundation – with the foundation’s director of operations also being a close member of the BlueRock community.

Mr Bertini was a passionate runner but unfortunately suffered a heart condition, which led to his death in July 2020.

By participating in Run Melbourne, the team at BlueRock hope to raise vital funds for the Heart Foundation so it can continue its important research into conditions like Mr Bertini’s, and therefore save the lives of others.

This year, the premier winter running festival will take over the Grand Slam Oval at Melbourne Olympic Park and surrounding running tracks.

The festival will kick-off at 6am, with participants able to complete a half-marathon, 10km or 5.5km run or walk, in the name of an important cause.

Starting lines for all three courses will be on Batman Avenue near William Barak Bridge, with routes weaving through the city’s streets past Federation Square, Flinders Street Station, Marvel Stadium, The Arts Centre, Shrine of Remembrance and Royal Botanic Gardens before ending at the finish lines on Grand Slam Oval.

The Grand Slam Oval will have a warm-up and entertainment stage, refreshment stations, merchandise stores and a charity lane.
