Melbourne Conversations: Building the Future Anyway
A free public discussion at Fed Square’s The Edge on Tuesday, April 28 will bring together a panel of young climate leaders working on the frontlines of climate disruption, both locally and internationally.
Hosted by award-winning broadcaster and science communicator Tanya Ha, the session will explore how young people are responding to climate challenges while balancing study, work and everyday life, as well as how they are sustaining momentum for climate action as public attention shifts.
The speaker line-up for the Melbourne Conversations: Building the Future Anyway event includes Tanzanian, Ugandan, Australian and Pacific advocates and campaigners:
- Juvenal Vitalis (Tanzania) – youth climate advocate working across community-led adaptation initiatives
- Amy Nahirya (Uganda) – gender and climate justice leader focused on grassroots mobilisation and education
- Jean Hinchliffe – former School Strike 4 Climate organiser and prominent voice in Australia’s youth climate movement
- Jacynta Fa’amau – Pacific climate campaigner and organiser with 350.org
Bringing together mixed perspectives from communities directly impacted by climate change, the conversation will focus on how young leaders are organising, supporting one another and keeping climate action visible at both a local and global level.
The event, at The Edge, Fed Square on Tuesday 28 April from 6pm-7.15pm, is free to attend, with registrations via What’s On Melbourne required.
It is presented by City of Melbourne in partnership with Women Deliver and Fed Square.
