Pasko sa Melbourne: a Filipino Christmas event at QVM
Ring in the festive season and experience Filipino Christmas traditions with this free, family-friendly event at Queen Victoria Market (QVM).
On December 8 from 9am to 4pm, Queen Vic Market will transform into a celebration of Filipino cuisine and culture for Pasko sa Melbourne’s merry “Joy to the World” event.
Enjoy a Christmas parade, multicultural performances, games, workshops and a range of food stalls serving both modern and traditional festive treats.
Pasko sa Melbourne has been organised by the Empowered Australian Multicultural Society Inc. in collaboration with the Filipino Australian Student Council of Victoria, the Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne and the Filipino community.
Founded by a group of Filipinos eager to bring Christmas traditions from the Philippines to Melbourne, Pasko sa Melbourne – “Pasko” meaning “Christmas” – hosts events across the city throughout the holiday season.
In the past, the group has held a Christmas concert showcasing Filipino music and dance, food and craft fairs featuring wares by Filipino artisans, and an annual gift-giving program.
The first Pasko sa Melbourne Christmas celebration at Queen Vic Market took place last year, attracting around 5,000 attendees.
