QVM celebrates all the goodness that comes with a new season

For the first weekend of May, Queen Victoria Market is celebrating everything that makes the new season unique with an Autumn Harvest Festival.

The new event will take place from 9am to 4pm on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7, and will centre around in-season produce and goods on offer from various different stall holders.

Free 25-minute cooking workshops for the little ones will also take place over the weekend and will make use of produce that can be found at the market.

The first day will see children make apple cookies, while on the second day they will be creating fun and healthy owl crackers.

Visitors of the market can also learn more about shopping and living more sustainably through the zero-waste living workshop, the using food scraps for creative recipes workshop, and the beeswax for reducing plastic workshop.

Live music and roving entertainment will overtake the market, and a number of food trucks, such as Bigger than Texas, Pies and Pavlovas, and Famous Sandwich, will be on site with mouth-watering dishes for the cooler weather.

For the first of what is expected to be a successful festival, a mini animal farm will also be awaiting visitors of all ages. •
