Street food, shopping and variety shows at QVM’s Fringe Flavours Night Market
In collaboration with Melbourne Fringe Festival, the Queen Victoria Market sheds are lighting up each Wednesday evening for late-night shopping, street food from across the globe and live entertainment.
For just a few weeks this spring, the Queen Victoria Market will come alive after dark on Wednesdays from 5pm to 10pm with an extensive program of live entertainment, shopping and food and drink on offer.
At the Night Market pop-up stage, visitors will get the chance to experience talent direct from the Melbourne Fringe Festival stage for free.
Each week will feature a fresh line-up of live entertainment including circus acts, cabaret, comedy and live music from the likes of comedian Jeromaia Detto, illusionist Mr Marmalade and multi-instrumentalist Mari-Trees.
Visitors can also browse an array of retail stalls featuring unique wares and artisanal items from local makers; there are one-of-a-kind glass jewellery pieces from Glassical Art, handmade origami artwork from Kiana Mei Designs, vintage film cameras and photographs from Retro Mamma in String Bean Alley, Mexican folk art and hand-painted skulls from Viva La Calavera and many more to explore.
The Fringe Flavours bar will be pouring a range of wines from sustainable wine bar ReWine, beers from Queen Vic Market’s own Brick Lane Brewing, as well as frozen watermelon mojitos and blueberry cocktails for something sweeter.
This year’s vast assortment of food stalls includes baklava soft serve from Mum’s Baklava, traditional savoury Italian pastries from Il Panzerotto Taste of Puglia, bite-sized lasagne from The Arancini Mann, Cambodian and Southeast Asian street BBQ from Flamin Skewers, birria tacos from Dingo Ate My Taco and Colombian street food from Colombiantojos, just to name a few.
The Fringe Flavours Night Market will run until October 15. Entry is free.
