Keeping customers’ style on point for 14 years

Iris Zhang has been an integral part of Queen Victoria Market for many years, and it was the reason why, when she decided to open her own fashion store, there was no other location more suited to her dream. 

After starting out part-time at another stall, while studying both accounting and marketing at RMIT University, Iris celebrated the completion of her studies by opening two stalls in the market. 

In 2008 she opened Iris Bamboo Crafts, closely followed by her fashion accessories business IC Fashion in 2009, which she runs with her husband Chris Zhu. 

To this day, both businesses still exist but under the one stall, and Iris couldn’t be prouder of the space she has created for customers.

“At our store, we take immense pride in creating a cheerful and welcoming atmosphere for all our valued customers,” Iris said. 

“Our top priority is to ensure that our customers have a fantastic shopping experience with us.”

Within the stall visitors can find everything from unique collapsible baskets in shapes of apples, rabbits, and frogs to hats, scarves, gloves, and eyewear. 

As a fashion-enthusiast, Iris likes to ensure that what she sells is suited to all customers, and that the accessories are available in a variety of materials.

Everything from wool to felt, cotton, cashmere, leather, acrylic are on offer, in both thermal and fashion styles. 

“We see these accessories as making a point of difference to your wardrobe, and to your personal style, and there are many styles and colours to choose from,” Iris said. 

“We source our products from Australia and overseas, and our main supplier is Melbourne-based, with many of our products also seen in Australian fashion houses.”

To help make the shopping experience more personalised Iris offers engravings on the baskets and makes sure that enough staff are always on hand to guide shoppers towards an accessory that is right for them.

“Our friendly and dedicated team is always at hand to assist our customers in finding the perfect hat size that fits comfortably or helping them discover the ideal hat style that best suits their individual taste and personality,” she said.
